Messages from two TTBC
presidentsIncoming 2008-2009
President, Sherri Nickolas
Well, here it is May 1st so I
guess that means that now I am officially the new President of
the Tornado Booster Club. Wow, that was an awesome letter that
Barb sent and it is going to be hard to follow in her footsteps
but I hope that I can be as good of a President as she has been.
So much of what Barb mentioned in her email is what I was going
to say so I am just going to say “ditto” I couldn’t have said
anything better. We all came together a few years ago with one
purpose in mind and that was to try to make sure that the
players have a good, positive experience while they are in
Frisco and to let them know that there are people out there
other than their Billets (who give so much to the boys – Thank
You) that care about their well being. The players become very
special to us each season and it is hard for us to say “Goodbye”
at the end of the season – especially if they aren’t returning.
Best of luck to all of them.
The BC welcomes your
suggestions about possible ways to raise money so please feel
free to shoot me an email if you have any suggestions. I know
that one thing we have talked about is putting together a
cookbook so you might want to start thinking about what recipe(s)
you would like to share with us (if you don’t mind sharing some
of your family recipes). Even if your son is an Alumni we would
still welcome your recipe(s) because like Barb said “Once a
Tornado, Always a Tornado”.
I hope that everyone has a
wonderful and safe summer and as we are made aware of things
that we can share I will pass them along.

Outgoing 2006-2008 President, Barb
Simpson
Greetings Boosters,
I hope that you will indulge
me for a few minutes as my term as Booster Club President comes
to a close.
When I became President my
goal was to be sure that the Booster Club was always about the
boys and what was best for them. I think that we did accomplish
that goal. Together as a group we managed to support the team to
the best of our abilities. The Tornado organization always knew
they could call on us, and they did. Whether we were giving
rides to and from the airport, working the table, feeding the
team, supporting try out camps, or even painting the locker room
we were always there. We even came together to make a holiday
away from home enjoyable for another team.
Although we are still waiting
to hear where we will be playing next season the Booster Club
will carry on. It might not be in the same capacity as years
past but, we are committed to the team in every way possible.
Hopefully soon the Tornado organization will make an
announcement on where the team will be located or what the
schedule might look like so we can prepare for the 08-09 season.
For those of you who are
parents of players I want to thank you one more time for loaning
us your son. I know as a mom of a teenage boy, if my son were
far from home I would hope that he would have someone that would
support and care for him. I know many of you player parents knew
we were there for your boys, and felt some comfort in that. It
was so great to meet so many wonderful families that all have
the same goal in mind, to make this season the best it could be
for the guys.
If your son will not be back
next season we hope that you will continue to keep us updated on
your son’s future endeavors so we can post it on the web page
and let everyone know what they are up to. Remember Once a
Tornado, Always a Tornado!
If your son will be returning
for another season we look forward to seeing you all again when
the season is underway. We hope we can plan on your continued
support in our efforts.
I talked with Dwight and Craig
at the end of the year banquet and told them that the Booster
Club would be able to help at the try out camps here in Texas if
they needed us. They are both appreciative of all we have done
for them and the team. I am sure we will be hearing from them on
ways we can help during tryouts.
I would like to thank everyone
that volunteered in any way this season. You all made it easy! I
cannot begin to express the emotions I am feeling as another
season comes to an end. You guys really are like family to Mark,
Chad, and I. We enjoy being with you both at the games and at
other functions away from the rink.
I know that you will all
support the new Booster Club President Sherri Nicholas as her
term of service gets underway on May 1st. I know she plans to
have a meeting with the Tornado office in the near future to get
things going for next year.
Thanks so much for an
incredible two years,
Barb Simpson
